Brandon Clarke and Tuomas Iisalo are now tied to a Memphis story no locker room ever wants to carry.
The Memphis Grizzlies announced Tuesday that Clarke passed away at 29. The cause had not been disclosed.
This is not a story for guessing, stretching, or chasing noise.
Clarke was born in Vancouver and spent his entire NBA career with Memphis, giving this news a rare Canadian-Tennessee pull.
The first post captured the locker-room part of the loss: Clarke was remembered as a phenomenal teammate in Memphis and a solid player.
"Clarke was always viewed as a phenomenal teammate in Memphis, and was a solid ball player."

Why this crosses into hockey
The connection is bigger than sport. Vancouver knows what it means when one of its own makes it south and still carries home with him.
Tennessee knows it too. Nashville's hockey crowd and Memphis' basketball crowd don't share the same rink, but they understand the same thing: a good teammate leaves a mark.
Clarke played 309 NBA games and was named to the All-Rookie First Team after entering the league.
The Grizzlies called him an outstanding teammate and an even better person, and that line explains why the news travelled beyond one fan base.
In hockey terms, this is the guy every room values: reliable, low-maintenance, respected, and missed the moment his stall goes quiet.
May he rest in peace.
