TSN's insider Darren Dreger seems to believe that the former Edmonton Oilers General Manager Ken Holland made a decision about his retirement from the NHL. During the summer, the Oilers decided to part ways with Ken Holland after five years and replace him with Stan Bowman. This decision brought a lot of controversy to the organization because of Bowman's past with the Chicago Blackhawks and his involvement in the Kyle Beach scandal. However, many fans were simply happy to see Holland gone. None can deny his great accomplishments in the NHL, but he's the one who signed two of the worst contracts in the Edmonton Oilers' recent history: Darnell Nurse and Jack Campbell. Holland is now 68 years old, and there was a general belief that he would contemplate retirement after his associations with the Oilers ended. Darren Dreger of TSN believes otherwise. He mentioned in a recent intervention that Holland still has the motivation to work in the NHL. The insider also stated that Holland would surely be interested in a VP of Hockey Operations or General Manager role with a team if it's the right fit. In his own words: Let me tell you this: he still has tons of energy, and he still is motivated by the juice of the game, but it has to be the right fit. I look at hockey operations bosses in Canada like Jimmy Rutherford in Vancouver; what about Jeff Gorton of the Montreal Canadiens? I think Kenny Holland would be keenly interested in a job like that; maybe another GM opportunity. Last week, reports linked him to the Utah HC, and it appears that he'll join the team's front office in the near future, but nothing's been confirmed yet. Stay tuned as we report the latest news on Holland and his future role with the Utah HC!
