Comedian Nikki Glaser roasts Connor McDavid while presenting at the ESPYs

The ESPYs are known around the world as an awards show similar to the style of The Oscars or The Golden Globes for television and movies. Athletes are placed into categories and given awards for various moments or accolades over the last year. This year the category of Best Athlete: Men's Sports was stacked including Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Mahomes, Shohei Ohtani, and Connor McDavid.

When it came time to present that award comedian Nikki Glaser took the stage as the presenter. While introducing each of the finalists Nikki Glaser made a joke at the expense of each one.

She took a shot at Scottie Scheffler over his recent arrest before a tournament. Patrick Mahomes received jokes about Taylor Swift and all of the advertisements he can be seen in. Shohei Ohtani was subjected to more jokes about his former translator Ippei Mizuhara. Finally, there was Connor McDavid who Nikki Glaser joked lost a Stanley Cup to a place that does not have ice and then finished off with a joke about Connor McDavid grabbing a Stanley Cup out of the cabinet for his wife.

The camera then cut to Connor McDavid's Edmonton Oilers teammate Evander Kane who seemed less than amused at the joke made by Nikki Glaser. After all of the jokes were out of the way it was time to give out the award. Ultimately, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took home the hardware.

After not winning the award Connor McDavid will continue to regroup along with his teammates in Edmonton looking to have a more successful 2024-25 NHL season.
