Claudia Lemieux Bishop gave the hockey world a side of her father it never saw.
The 28-year-old posted on her Instagram Story on May 28, writing that there were no words to express the devastation she and her family feel.
She called herself "forever your only girl," a line that cuts deeper when you understand Claudia's place in the Lemieux family.
"No words to express the level of devastation we feel. I love you forever daddy. Forever your only girl."

Claude Lemieux had four children. Three sons, including former NHL forward Brendan Lemieux, followed him into hockey in one form or another. Claudia was the only daughter.
What Claudia's words actually tell us about the man behind the most polarizing reputation in league history really sticks with fans.
The private side no scouting report ever captured
Claude Lemieux was known for agitating opponents and delivering in the biggest moments of playoff hockey.
He won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1995 with the New Jersey Devils and remains one of the greatest postseason performers the NHL has ever produced.
But Claudia's tribute did not mention a single game or trophy. Her brother Brendan wrote about his son's favorite person now watching from above.
Son Christopher posted that life has a brutal way of reminding you to appreciate what you have.
Hunter Bishop, Claudia's husband, called his father-in-law a truly amazing man.
What the tributes tell us about legacy beyond the ice
Not one family member referenced hockey in their public statements. That silence says something the hockey world should hear.
The man they are mourning was not the agitator or the Conn Smythe winner. He was the father who showed up at Brendan's NHL debut alongside Claudia, the co-founder of a furniture business, and the person his daughter will simply remember as daddy.
The Lemieux family has asked for privacy during this time.
The NHL Alumni Association confirmed Claude's passing in a statement that honored his 21-year career across six NHL franchises.
