After losing Carter Hart earlier this season, the Flyers have been desperately seeking another top goaltender, and now they may finally have that in Alexei Kolosov.

The Flyers have been riding Samuel Ersson's fantastic rookie campaign all season long, but they still need a backup if they are to make a push in the 2023-24 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now, that backup may be on the way, as Dinamo Minsk of the KHL have officially announced that star goaltender Alexei Kolosov is leaving the league and heading to the United States to join the Flyers.

The 22-year old has starred in 47 games of KHL action this season, tallying a 2.39 GAA and a .907 save percentage, but it appears he's ready for the bigger challenge of the NHL. No official word has come from the Flyers about whether he's headed straight to the NHL or will spend time in the AHL, but given the significant role he's played in the KHL this season, it's highly likely that he would only make the move now if there was NHL time coming for him.

Kolosov was a third-round pick of the Flyers back in the 2021 NHL Draft, and has been progressing well in the KHL, with a career high GAA of just 2.90, and with Philadelphia just two points up on the Washing ton Capitals in the playoff race, he may just be the spark and consistency this team needs in net to make a significant playoff push.
