The Canuck and NHL legend is back, as Todd Bertuzzi has shockingly signed a new professional contract to play hockey again at the age of 50.

Todd Bertuzzi will be serving a rare dual purpose next season at Galt Arena Gardens, both coach and player.
Already named Cambridge RedHawks head coach back in April, the former NHL great has now also committed to playing for the Cambridge Hornets.
"Having a household NHL name makes people pay attention," Eric Boissonneault, co-owner of the RedHawks, said back in May.

"His passion for the game and his excitement to be here coaching is contagious. Players will want to play for him. And then you add his experience and knowledge in the game and you get a recipe for success."
Bertuzzi, 50, brings a lot of experience, with 1,159 NHL games played over 18 seasons.

Bertuzzi played for six NHL clubs in his career, including two Canadian ones

He scored 314 goals and 456 assists for 770 points with the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, and Detroit Red Wings.
He was a 2003 First Team NHL All-Star and an All-Star Game selection in 2003 and 2004. While his coaching duties with the RedHawks remain his priority, Bertuzzi's on-ice resurgence with the Hornets is an added bonus for fans.
The Hornets, a classic franchise that existed in the 1960s, are coming back to Allan Cup Hockey for the first time since 2006.
Part-owner and team president Rob McIntosh explained he was overjoyed with the team's rebirth and Bertuzzi's involvement, labeling it a significant step in restoring the club's heritage.
"Our ownership group has enjoyed a fantastic first year in Cambridge with the Redhawks and we are excited to bring back the Cambridge Hornets to the city," McIntosh said.

"We love how involved the community is in support of their teams and there is a long history of support for the Cambridge Hornets. That history is on full display all throughout the Galt Arena Gardens and we can't wait to add to that moving forward with both the Redhawks and the Hornets."
