Noah Philp is back on waivers, and Edmonton Oilers fans can feel the claim talk getting loud.

This one stings because Philp is not some random depth name. He is the former Oiler who already fought his way onto the roster once.
A post circulating Wednesday says Philp, a member of the Hurricans, has been placed on waivers.
Another post goes a step further and says the expectation is the Edmonton Oilers will claim Noah Philp.
That is the whole story in two sentences, but the context matters.
Philp is 27, a right-shot center, and he was undrafted. Edmonton signed him as a free agent in 2022 after his University of Alberta run.
He also took a one-year step away from hockey, then clawed his way back into the NHL picture.
Here are the two posts that kicked this off.
If you are an Oilers fan, you know why the idea grabs you. Philp plays honest minutes, takes draws, and does not cheat for offense.
Before Carolina grabbed him in late December, he played 15 games for Edmonton this season and put up 2-1-3.

Noah Philp and Edmonton Oilers reunion tension feels real

Oilers fans are split right now, hopeful about the story, but tired of the roster churn.
A claim would be a low-cost bet on a player who already knows the room and the system.
It also screams "depth fix," especially if Edmonton wants more trust in the bottom-six when games tighten up.
From Carolina's side, waiving him suggests the fit did not click fast enough, or they need the spot more than the player.
Now it comes down to priority, timing, and how badly Edmonton wants that familiar safety valve down the middle.
If the Oilers do it, Philp's next shift will come with instant pressure, and a fanbase ready to believe again.
