The Canadiens have one of the best prospect pools in the league. However, it's the goaltending that's less solid.

Cayden Primeau isn't progressing at the desired pace, and the organization is increasingly wondering whether he'll ever be able to play regularly in the NHL. After him, it's not looking good either.

Guillaume Latendresse therefore raised the possibility of Kent Hughes trading for a young goaltender with a lot of potential instead of going through the draft to remedy the situation.

"I'd be more inclined to go for a 21 or 22-year-old goalie via a trade. There's Yaroslav Askarov, from Nashville, or Devon Levi, about whom we've heard several rumours. There are several young goalkeepers. That's more the path I'd go down with the Canadiens." - Latendresse

As for Devon Levi, the Montrealer would fit right in with the CH, but it's not in the Sabres' interest to let him go. As for Askarov, he's caught behind Juuse Saros in Nashville and that makes a lot more sense.
