NHL Video Review Steals Goal From Bertuzzi

The NHL's goal video review is often impredictable. Fans and players never know what the call's going to be.

Last night, we got another proof that the system doesn't work.

The Toronto Maple Leafs thought they scored when Tyler Bertuzzi beat Connor Hellebuyck. However, the decision was reversed by the refs on a goaltender interference call.

But as you can see on the video, Nylander was pushed on the goalie by the Jets' defenseman Dylan Demelo.

The Leafs just had this goal waived off for goalie interference.

Right call? 🧐

Demelo clearly pushed Nylander twice on Hellebuyck. The Leafs player stayed out of the goalie's zone and Bertuzzi shot the puck right in the net when Hellebuyck was laying on the ice.

Kelly Hrudey and Kevin Bieksa Call Out the NHL on Live TV

Kevin Biaska and Kelly Hrudey, two analysts for Sportsnet, didn't held back when they were talking about the league's decision during the intermission.

They candidaly shared that they believe the NHL made the wrong call.

"It's the wrong call in my opinion," said Hrudey matter of factly. "I thought that DeMelo clearly pushed Nylander into Hellebuyck and so I think this is a goal that should count. I'm kind of surprised in fact."

"Clearly he was pushed after and that's where the contact originated... I'm confused about this as well Kel," said Bieksa in response to the rant from his co-host."I was confident there for Toronto," said Bieksa. "I thought it would be reversed."

Even Hrudey, who's a former goaltender, believed it was the wrong call, which says a lot about the NHL's decision.
