In 2018, Tomas Plekanec took a short trip to the Canadiens' foe in Toronto, before returning the following season to play his 1,000th game with the club. It's certainly not a transaction that will go down in history, as the CH got their hands on Rinat Valiev and Kirby Rychel, who didn't last long in Montreal. However, Valiev was used as a bargaining chip to acquire Brett Kulak. After a few seasons in Montreal, Kulak left for Edmonton in exchange for a 2nd-round pick and William Lagesson. That 2nd-round pick became Lane Hutson. It's always fun to see where today's players come from. Nick Suzuki is the source of the Craig Rivet trade to the Sharks, for example. Getting back to Hutson, he's considered a steal of the 2022 draft, and he's not done impressing. He is currently the club's top prospect in the eyes of many observers.

Simple little transactions can sometimes lead to excellent acquisitions → https://t.co/xCvnnYQ6Bc- DansLesCoulisses (@DLCoulisses) July 29, 2023
 Credit: Marker
