The verdict is in for Jonathan Drouin
To say the least, Jonathan Drouin's time in Montreal wasn't as successful as he'd hoped. The Quebecer has a lot of talent, but he was never able to really find his niche with the Habs.
His contract expires at midnight tonight, and Kent Hughes mentioned a few days ago that he hadn't yet made a decision concerning him.
According to Renaud Lavoie, Drouin will officially be a free agent in a few hours, and his next contract will be less lucrative.
"We shouldn't expect him to sign a three-year contract worth $5 million a year, because that's not going to happen. It's no surprise to anyone. I think in Jonathan Drouin's case, we want to go for a one-year deal, with a good team, at a lower salary that will allow him to turn the page on what he experienced with the Montreal Canadiens."

We're in no way trying to find fault or belittle Jonathan here, on the contrary. We wish him the best of luck with a good team that will have the tools to allow him to flourish on the ice.
