The Predators would be willing to give the Canadiens a haul for the 5th pick, and one player is known.
As we mentioned yesterday, the Nashville Predators and their GM Barry Trotz have every intention of making a splash as hosts of the draft, which begins tonight.
They are said to be hoping to move up in picks 5 to 10, as they currently have the 15th selection.
To do so, they'll have to pay a lot, and Trotz is very aggressive. According to Frank Seravalli, future goaltender Yaroslav Askarov is being offered.
"As the Preds look to make a splash as draft hosts, there's a lot of talk that goaltender Yaroslav Askarov is likely to be sacrificed.
Askarov was selected 11th overall in the 2020 draft and enjoyed a solid first season with the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League (AHL).

If Kent Hughes ever has the opportunity to get his hands on a goaltender of the future, plus the 15th pick and possibly higher, it's starting to get very interesting.
Stay tuned...
