The Florida Panthers announced in the last few hours that the team's star defenceman, Aaron Ekblad, has been placed on the long-term injury list. With the departure of MacKenzie Weegar to Calgary, the Panthers are left with a much less talented defence. Forsling, Montour, Gudas, Staal, Mahura and Carlsson are all back. As reported by blogger Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, this is good news under the circumstances for the Montreal Canadiens, who have Florida's first round pick in 2023. If the Panthers fail to make the playoffs, the CH could end up with two top-15 picks.
