The NHL is looking to impose a full face guard rule for all players
The full face guard is only imposed at the Junior level at the moment. Once the player gets drafted to the major league, they are no longer required to wear it.
Unluckily for them, the NHL may soon make wearing full protective helmets mandatory.According to Jeff Marek, the NHL may decide to do this to lessen facial injuries. Although in theory this is a terrific idea, it is difficult to see players fully supporting it.
Marek speculates that the NHL could someday enforce full face shields in an attempt to lower face injuries.
