The Maple Leafs are on the Verge of Making a Top Goalie Signing
Brad Treliving, the newly appointed General Manager, has made a surprising signing, and it's not someone many were expecting.
Rather than updating the status of Ryan O'Reilly, Auston Matthews, William Nylander, or Ilya Samsonov, which most fans were hoping to hear about, Treliving has instead reportedly signed a new goaltender.
It was recently revealed via a tweet from hockey news hub that Akhtyamov, who was drafted at the 106th position, has officially inked a deal with the Leafs.
Akhtyamov's Route to the NHL
The 2022-23 season saw Akhtyamov delivering a commendable performance playing for Neftyanik Almetievsk in the VHL.
His exceptional season records stand at 20 wins and 12 losses, combined with an impressively low goals against average of 1.74 and a robust save percentage of .943. These stats show that Akhtyamov clearly has a lot of potential and should do very well with the Leafs.

The plan as of right now is to have Akhtyamov start in the KHL for a bit, before he makes the full transition into the NHL.
