Rumour: Edmonton Oilers Star Player Could be Heading to the Boston Bruins

This years Bruins team is exceeding expectations after losing some key players in the offseason. Their defense and goaltending have been solid, and it shows in a recent power rankings by Clutchpoints, placing them at the top.

Last year the Bruins finished with an outstanding record of 62-12-5, setting a high bar for this season. So far, it is like nothing has changed with a current record of 13-1-3, even with the retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

While some players have stepped up to fill that gap, including Pavel Zacha and Charlie Coyle, a potential trade is not out of the question. One option can be for the Calgary Flames' Elias Lindholm. His contract with be expiring this season, and with the way Calgary has struggled, he could be a valuable option for trade.

Another team who is struggling is the Edmonton Oilers. They offer different option for the Bruins with their 30-year-old forward Nugent-Hopkins coming off his highest season point total in the 2022-23 campaign. Boston could look to use their tandem of elite goaltenders in Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman as leverage to a Edmonton team in desperate need of a goaltender.

The other option for the Bruins is to play as is and hope for a surge that will get the deep into the playoffs. General Manager Don Sweeney has some options to look at. There is definitely an appeal for either Lindholm or Nugent-Hopkins to add a possible missing piece to the Bruins.
