The Edmonton Oilers may be looking for a better scoring punch in the line up and where else to look other than the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Although it is unlikely to happen at the moment, both teams can come to a deal

According to the article's author, if the Penguins are eliminated from the playoffs by the trade deadline, the Oilers and Penguins should exchange Evander Kane for Jake Guentzel. Suggesting that the deal would be similar to the one the Oilers made last season for Mattias Ekholm.
It could be a deal similar to the Mattias Ekholm deal from last season. It could also be as simple as adding a couple of picks (2nd or 3rd rounders) and getting the Penguins to retain a bit of salary.

Though stranger things have transpired, it is unlikely that the Penguins would accept that. The Oilers would probably need to make a lot more additions, particularly if they signed Guentzel immediately. Guentzel might be used by the Penguins until the very final NHL game, so it's also unclear if they would even trade him.

Guentzel and Kane are not that comparable but both bring different aspects that teams need

While Kane makes $5.125 million and has a contract that runs until 2026–2027, Guentzel makes $6 million and is in the final year of his deal. In terms of statistics, however, Guentzel leads Kane by a wide margin with 46 points in 41 games this season compared to Kane's 25 points in 38 games.
While Kane has never scored more than a point per game in his career, Guentzel has done it in four of the previous five seasons. Guentzel is also three years younger.
Naturally, Guentzel will be hoping for a sizable raise during the off season, and he is deserving of one. The Oilers could be able to keep him if they are able to acquire him, but it is uncertain if the Penguins will be able to hold onto him.
