Steven Stamkos will receive trade offers

Prominent NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently shared that the Tampa Bay Lightning will receive trade offers for superstar forward Steven Stamkos if he remains unsigned as the year goes on.

Friedman (32TP): "What happens if Tampa is a bubble team and Stamkos isn't signed at the end of the season?"

Marek: "Well, that's what Julien BriseBois talked about at the beginning of the season, we need to see what the season is going to be like here"

Friedman: "Teams are going to call"

The Lightning currently sit out of the playoffs with a 10-10-5 record. If this continues and they are still out of a playoff spot as we get closer to the trade deadline, teams will begin to show interest in the future Hall of Famer.

Stamkos is nearing a crossroads

This year is the final season of Stamkos' contract which pays him $8.5 million annually. He has over 500 goals and 1,000 points in his career, along with two Stanley Cup championships. If the Lightning even hint that he's going on the trade block, teams will line up to bring him in.

At some point Stamkos will have to decide whether he wants to commit to the Lightning for the rest of his career or try his luck with a new team.
