The Washington Capitals have struggled to find consistency this season. It seems as though every player on the team has hit a slump at some point. Evgeny Kuznetsov is one of those players and it has led to trade rumors.
Capitals Struggling Under New Head Coach
This offseason the Washington Capitals hired Spencer Carbery to be their head coach. Both players and fans were hopeful and thought the team would be taken in a more offensive direction. However, that couldn't be further from the case. Alex Ovechkin is having the worst goal-scoring and point totals of his career by far. As a result, his linemate Evgeny Kuznetsov is also heavily struggling with just 11 points in 28 games. This would be a career-worst in a downward spiral for Kuznetsov. Last season he dropped from 78 points to 55 and is spiraling even more. If the Capitals are looking to send a message and make a big switch in their lineup Evgeny Kuznetsov could be the guy they move. This thought has been confirmed by an NHL insider.
NHL Insider Confirms Star Forward Is On The Trade Block
With the struggles for the Capitals an NHL insider has suggested that the Capitals and Evgeny Kuznetsov could work on a trade together.

Kuznetsov would likely love a new change of scenery and a better opportunity. This would also allow the Capitals to get out of Kuznetsov's contract a year early. The 31-year-old forward is likely on a decline in his career. The skill he has shown in previous years does show he can still be counted on to at least be a depth scorer. It will be fascinating to watch this process play out and determine whether or not Kuznetsov will finish his career somewhere new.
