Although it wasn't wildly publicized, Phil Kessel beat the NHL record for the number of consecutive games played.

With a streak of 990 games in a row, the so-called 'Phil the Thrill' has tied the 'Iron Man' title holder's mark since last season, Keith Yandle.
What's most fascinating about Kessel is that he has a larger-than-life reputation for his disdain for training and poor eating habits.
Kristopher Letang had also mentioned on the podcast Drette su'l tape a very funny story about him, when he played for the Penguins.
«When I saw his travel bag, I said to it: what did you bring Phil, besides candy? The bag was filled with sweets. I said: let's see what are you doing here? Toothbrush right? Jeans no? -Kristopher Letang

By the way, another absolutely hilarious Kessel fact from Blake Wheeler is that he only drinks blue Powerade. He never drinks water, because he doesn't like the taste of water!
In fact, it's more that since water doesn't taste like sugar, Kessel clearly doesn't like to drink it.
This guy is a legend!
