The news of Rick Tocchet's criminal record has just surfaced on the internet. If Canucks fans were already worried before the hire, what can they possibly be feeling right now.
The head coach was in fact detained and convicted in 2007 for his participation in an illegal gambling ring and for attempting to smuggle $18,000 across the border.
For the record, Rick Tocchet was arrested and guilty for his role in an illegal gambling ring in 2007. He was arrested and guilty again in 2011 of making a false declaration while taking more than $18k in cash across a border.
This has gotten Canucks fans very worried about the hire. To let go of an established coach in Boudreau and now hire Tochett, it seems like the organization is going backwards in terms of coaches.
There had to be other candidates, right?
Tochett will have to turn this team around and prove to the fans that he is the right man for this job. Otherwise, he will be another fallen soldier for this organization.
