Canadiens fans would like to see Kent Hughes select Michkov in the upcoming NHL draft with the fifth pick. However, speculation persists as to whether or not Mishkov will actually be selected by the team despite the potential implications surrounding the selection.

As early as the fall of 2026, Matvei Michkov could potentially join the Montreal Canadiens after his KHL contract expires at the end of the 2025-2026 season, if the team decides to select him.

So here's what the Montreal roster could look like, presented by Cimon Asselin of HF.

Cole Caufield - Kirby Dach - Juraj Slafkovsky

Matvei Michkov - Nick Suzuki - Joshua Roy

Rafael Harvey-Pinard - Owen Beck - Sean Farrell

Emil Heineman - Jan Mysak - Brendan Gallagher

On defense:

Mike Matheson - Arber Xhekaj

Kaiden Guhle - Logan Mailloux

Lane Hutson - Justin Barron

In front of the net:

Samuel Montembeault

Jakub Dobes

As you can see, both Jordan Harris and Josh Anderson would have been traded in this scenario. The team would be young and dynamic, not to mention the possibility of adding a Pierre-Luc Dubois!
