Michael Pezzetta is at the heart of a controversy within the Canadiens, according to some people
Quite frankly, I didn't expect to see this on social networks, and I want to mention that we don't agree with the interpretation of some people, but here's what is currently circulating on the web.
It seems that Michael Pezzetta's celebration would have a big impact, even in the Habs' locker room.
Here is the sequence in question:
In connection with this gesture of the Tricolore's fiery forward, the journalist Simon-O. Lorange of La Presse mentioned that it had created an obvious uneasiness among his own teammates yesterday.
"In the evening, an exuberant celebration by Michael Pezzetta created obvious unease among his CH teammates. Go figure." (full text at bottom)

Conversely, the excellent journalist of RDS, Luc Gélinas, had a very different opinion of the situation, he who was present in the CH locker room:
"I was in the locker room yesterday. There was no baboon.
I would say the guys were more stunned than uncomfortable!
And if the Sabres miss the playoffs by one point, they will have to look elsewhere.
In my eyes, it was all perfect."

Here's another reaction, and this time it's from David Arseneault of RDS.

Here's what some of the Tricolore's players said at their respective press conferences:
"I know the Sabres players will probably be frustrated, we would be too in the opposite situation.
I understand both sides."

"It's... different!"

Truth be told, hockey is a sport and an entertainment, and Pezzetta's move was great for the show.
By the way, like David Arseneault's very well summarized comments, if it had been an opposing player who had done the same thing, and he had not committed any obscene gesture or insulted anyone, I would have had the same reaction to his celebration.
Pezzetta wanted to set the place on fire, enjoying his moment to the fullest, as he may never see the ice again for an NHL shootout, and we'd rather see that, than an absence of emotion like some have after scoring a goal.
