In a press conference at noon, Martin St-Louis talked about the Canadiens young prospects and the expectations the organization has for them.

Youngsters Juraj Slafkovsky, Filip Mesar and Owen Beck will be playing in their second consecutive prep game. Although the most recent first overall pick was not expected to play tonight, the coach was willing to comment on the number of games scheduled and the plan in his case:
« If I'm in his position, I want to play as many games as I can. So, we're going to give him the opportunity. The more he plays, the more of a sample we'll get.

We have a little bit of an idea. The plans (change). He didn't think he was playing tonight and now he's playing. We have an idea, but these are things that change with circumstances. We focus on all the touches on the ice. We evaluate every day. »

Instead of talking about a summary evaluation, Martin St-Louis likes to say that all young players are evaluated every day, regardless of their level of play, whether it is junior or professional.
In fact, the Canadiens head coach gave an idea of the future of Mesar and Beck:
« These are kids who will potentially go back to junior. As the camp progresses, we want to get a feel for the team we will have, so we will evaluate our younger players early. »

It will be a young team for the Habs tonight, with only three veterans on the roster. Martin St-Louis still wanted to point out Emil Heineman's shifty and powerful shot, as well as Justin Barron's game intelligence, to name a few.
