The Habs are off to a great start this season, as the youth of the team has literally taken the lead, thanks to the performances of the team's young veterans, as well as the many rookies that have joined Martin St-Louis' team this season.

That said, at the moment, it is the veterans who are under the microscope in the organization, as management evaluates the elements to build with in the long term to surround its young players. Currently, it is more the veterans who have to fight to keep an important role in the team and get more ice time.

Of the lot, Josh Anderson is one of the oldest players in the Tricolore's current group. If his position is not necessarily in danger, it must be admitted that his presence in the top-6 of the team is no longer assured. His level of play has not been excellent since the beginning of the season and his role is more and more defined as a third line power winger.

On this subject, as reported by Marc Dumont of MTL Hockey Now, Martin St-Louis was asked what aspects of the game Anderson could improve.

Like the good leader he is, the CH head coach is making sure to highlight his veteran winger's strengths first.

« I don't know if there's anything specific, but he needs to continue to grow as a player. He has a lot of strengths." - Martin St. Louis

However, St.-Louis did identify one problem that could hold Anderson back.

« Josh has a lot of speed, but you don't have to go 100 miles per hour all the time every shift, because sometimes you'll miss your exit. I think he's gotten a lot better at that. He's controlling his speed. We want him to play with speed, but it's about knowing when to speed up and slow down, to control the game. It's not just about going where he wants to go, but rather going where he should be." - Martin St. Louis

The former Lightning star targeted a real improvement that number 17 of the Habs needs to work on in his game. It is true that the latter's speed, along with his imposing size, make him a unique player in the NHL. However, his strength is also his weakness, as his great speed hinders his ability to create plays on the ice.

If Anderson is part of the organization's long-term plans, he will be an interesting project for St. Louis to polish.
