Leon Draisaitl in Montreal? It was close
According to Sportsnet, there was a very real chance that Leon Draisaitl was a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
It was back in 2016 that the forward was in discussions, notably in return for P.K. Subban.
"In 2016, the Oilers and Canadiens were seriously working on a trade involving P.K. Subban.
Montreal would receive: Leon Draisaitl + Darnell Nurse or Oscar Klefbom + 4th overall pick (who became Jesse Puljujarvi)
Edmonton received: P.K. Subban + 9th overall pick (who became Mikhail Sergachev)
