The Montreal Canadiens have a significant surplus of forwards and with the return of Joel Edmundson and very soon Mike Matheson, Kent Hughes is very active in freeing up forwards to make room. Pierre LeBrun of TSN recently reported this on Insider Trading: The Canadiens have contacted several NHL clubs to try to create a trade market for their glut of forwards. Whether it's Evgeny Dadonov, Jonathan Drouin, Mike Hoffman or others, the Canadiens have too many players up front. There's no question that Montreal is looking to make a move. - Pierre LeBrun It's true that Dadonov really doesn't belong in the Habs' lineup anymore. His departure is very plausible, if only there was a team willing to take a chance on the Russian player. He was recently placed on injured reserve and could return to the lineup on Tuesday. It's clear that Drouin, who also has a year left on his contract, and Mike Hoffman, who has two more seasons left on his contract, are two other targets that could be traded to the Habs. Several files are heating up with the CH and a solution with certain forwards could happen very soon.

Credit: Alexandre Desrosiers, Trade Rumors
