Jets reporters made themselves look foolish and unprofessional yesterday when the Blackhawks arrived in Winnipeg. They asked Connor Bedard a series of inappropriate questions regarding Corey Perry. Apparently, it was so bad that the owner of the team felt compelled to speak to Bedard himself about it.

Winnipeg Reports Hound Bedard With Gross Questions

Reportedly, Jets reporters asked multiple questions about the rumors involving Corey Perry and the 18-year-old's mother. These rumors had been thoroughly debunked well before the Blackhawks arrived in Winnipeg.

Blackhawks Brass confirmed that Perry's contract termination had nothing to do with any other player on the team or their family members. This has been widely reported across the NHL, including on game broadcasts.

Bedard was visibly annoyed with the line of questioning, but he handled himself with dignity and class.

Jets Owner Personally Apologizes To Bedard For Reporters Actions

Today it came out that Jets Owner Mark Chipman personally boarded the Blackhawks bus before they left the city to apologize for the way the reporters had handled the situation.

Darren Pang said on the Blackhawks broadcast that Jets owner Mark Chipman apologized to Connor Bedard for the questions he faced from Winnipeg reporters. I'm sure Chipman meant well, and I've said I don't agree with the line of questioning. But writers don't answer to owners.

Perhaps this was a move to reassure players that such an incident will not occur again, but it is unclear what Chipman can actually do to prevent another instance. Regardless, it was a classy move from the owner that Bedard hopefully appreciated.
