Insider gives promising update on Elias Pettersson's Contract Situation

Elias Pettersson has been the Vancouver Canucks most promising star for many years, and after a career high in points a season ago, his next contract could be a mega deal.

A star in the making

In 2022-23, Pettersson tallied a career high in goals (39), assists (63) and points (102), and now, in a contract year, there's been plenty of speculation surrounding his next deal.

While some chatter has revealed that he wanted out of Vancouver, the latest update from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman could be considered a very positive one for Canucks fans.

Pettersson to stay in Vancouver?

Elias has been red-hot to start 2023-24 as well, tallying 10 points in the teams first five games, but according to Friedman's latest update, it's winning and winning only that will keep him in Vancouver.

The impression I got from my interview with Elias Pettersson was he wants to play somewhere where winning matters. And he knows he can get that in Vancouver. If they can prove to him that they're trending in the right direction, I believe he will sign.

Now, the pressure is entirely on the shoulders of the Canucks front office, and if they can put together a team that could potentially compete around Pettersson, they may have their star locked in for a long, long time.
