Important development: Cole Caufield's next contract will be more than $49 million, according to Darren Dreger
While on TSN 690 this morning, tipster Darren Dreger revealed a not necessarily surprising, but important, piece of information regarding Cole Caufield's upcoming contract extension:
Darren Dreger, on the TSN690 morning show, says Cole Caufield will be looking for a bigger contract than what Matt Boldy got "7 x 7 million dollars is not enough."
So, according to his sources, it will be quite a bit more than $49 million for CH #22, unless a shorter term deal is in play :
"If the Canadiens want Caufield at around $7 million per season, a shorter-term deal will likely be needed." - Via HabsLinks
It would be a disaster to get a deal done with the team's young star in the short term.
In a press conference earlier this week, general manager Kent Hughes stated that he really wants to get along with Caufield for the long term, and that Caufield also wants to be here for the long term.
It will definitely be over $49 million for Cole Caufield for his next contract. What is your prediction?
With his production right now, I'd be surprised if he doesn't sign for $8.5-9.0M for seven to eight years.
