The Seattle Kraken are off to a shaky start after they surprised the league with a strong playoff showing last season. The team has already lost key players like Brandon Tanev, but now they will be even more short-handed as the team got bad news about one of their wingers.

Burakovsky Out 6-8 Weeks

Burakovsky has been a regular part of the Kraken's top six and power play units since he joined the team last season. The team will have to find a temporary replacement for him now as it was announced that he is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury.
The star winger scored 39 points in 49 games with the Kraken last year. Through five games this season he recorded two assists. He left his sixth match of the year after just 6 minutes of ice time due to his new injury.

Kraken Look To Tread Water In Pacific

The Kraken are currently sixth in the Pacific with three points and a 1-4-1 record. The only other team in the division to play six games is the first -place Golden Knights, who are a perfect 6-0. While many expected the pacific division to be very strong this year, only two teams, Vegas and Vancouver, are over .500 so far. The Kings hold the 3rd spot with a 2-2-1 record.

The bottom five teams in the division; Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle, Anaheim, and San Jose have combined for a -39 goal differential. This gives Seattle some time to get healthy as the other teams are not pressuring them to advance up the standings quickly. The Kraken will also be helped by the fact that the Oilers will be without Connor McDavid for at least a week.
