Hypothetical Trade Reunites Future Hall of Famers
Erik Karlsson is coming off of a season for the ages that culminated in his third Norris Trophy for best NHL defenseman.
He was the first D-Man this century to hit the 100-point mark, and was widely praised for having a renaissance type season.
But with his San Jose Sharks in a deep rebuild, Karlsson has requested a trade to a contender. This has set off many mock trades online, with fans making their own scenarios for the future Hall of Famer.
Reunion in Raleigh
A fan submitted trade on CapFriendly.com has Erik Karlsson reuniting with former Sharks teammate Brent Burns in Carolina.

The Trade
The trade would see Karlsson and 30% of his salary retained heading to Carolina in exchange for defenseman Brett Pesce, goalie Pyotr Kotchetkov, a 2024 second round pick, and a 2025 first round pick.
In this trade the rebuilding Sharks would gain valuable draft picks to stock up on ,as well as a good young cheap defenseman in Brett Pesce, who is rumored to be looking for a fresh start on a new team.
The Sharks would also grab a goalie of the future in Kotchetkov, who has impressed in limited NHL action with a career 2.34 goals against average and a .908 save percentage.
Would this be a good trade for both teams?
