Leafs top prospect, Roni Hirvonen, suffered a significant injury during a game due to a severe hit. This incident abruptly halted the game.

The Injury Incident

During a prospects game, an unfortunate incident took place. Leafs camp invitee, Nolan Dillingham, delivered a massive hit on Hirvonen, resulting in an injury.

Having been selected 59th overall in the 2020 draft, Hirvonen was looking forward to joining the Leafs team straight from this year's training camp. He had previously performed exceptionally well in the top Finnish league, Liiga, earning 28 points in 57 games while playing for HIFK.

Despite the severe impact of the hit, Hirvonen managed to walk away from the practice, evidently in pain. It was later confirmed that he had sustained a concussion.

Nolan Dillingham, who inflicted the hit, was invited to the camp. The previous year, he served as the captain of the OHL's Sarnia Sting, where he scored 14 points in 45 games and accumulated 65 penalty minutes. Certainly Nothing to scoff at.

Outrage Among Fans

Dillingham's action during the prospects scrimmage has stirred considerable outrage, many believe he was entirely out of line. Some are even demanding his immediate removal from the camp.

Dillingham's Prospects with the Maple Leafs

Today marks the final day of the camp. However, one thing seems certain - after injuring Hirvonen, one of the Leafs most promising prospects, Dillingham is unlikely to be offered a contract by the Maple Leafs.
