The NHL is the toughest hockey league in the entire world, and even with all the hype in the world, some top prospects can never quite live up to their hype at the top level.

A major bust

Right now, it's hard to describe Nolan Patrick as anything but a bust after being picked with the No. 2 overall pick back in the 2017 NHL Draft, but at 24-years of age, he's clearly not ready to give up on his dreams.

In 222 games with Philadelphia and Vegas, Patrick has managed just 32 goals and 77 points, and after not playing in the NHL since 2021-22, it appears he's not quite done.

A Canadian contender

According to a recent report, there is plenty of speculation that Patrick, still just 24-years of age could get a PTO with the Edmonton Oilers as he looks to revitalize his career.

At this point, it's unlikely that he could ever be the star Philadelphia were hoping for, but with a stacked offensive unit in Edmonton, this could give him the chance to play bottom-six minutes with a talented group, and could be just the opportunity he needs to turn it all around.
