Elliotte Friedman Sparks Rumors of a Major Trade Between Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens
Edmonton Oilers' Troubling Start to the Season
The Edmonton Oilers are experiencing a notably poor start to their season. With a record of 5-11-1, they find themselves ranking 30th in the NHL and 7th in the Pacific division.
The primary issue plaguing the team has been goaltending, but there seems to be a potential resolution on the horizon.
Potential Goalie Solutions from Montreal Canadiens
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has recently reported intensifying trade discussions between the Oilers and the Canadiens.
The Oilers, urgently needing a reliable goaltender, have shown interest in Kaden Primeau and Sam Montembeault from the Canadiens. Friedman said:
"The Oilers were there to see all 3 Montreal goalies play. They saw them all.. I think Allen is the least likely of the 3...I do think those are two of the guys Edmonton is looking at (Montembeault & Primeau)"

Backup Trade Plans for Edmonton Oilers
Friedman also shed light on the Oilers' alternate plans, highlighting their hope for Jack Campbell to regain form after his stint in the AHL.
However, given Campbell's and Skinner's underwhelming performances, a trade appears to be the contingency plan. Friedman stated:
"Oilers were really hoping Campbell would go down to the AHL and rediscover his game, that's not happening right now"
Further insights reveal that Ken Holland, seemingly, had hoped for a spontaneous resolution to their goalie problems.
Unfortunately, Campbell's AHL performance has been dismal, with a 0-3 record and an .820 save percentage
As the Oilers' season progresses, the urgency for a trade increases, hinting at imminent action to address their goaltending crisis.
