The Oilers have been off to a disappointing start to the season. After their latest loss, Darnell Nurse went off in his post-game interview.

While the entire Oilers team was clearly frustrated following another loss yesterday. This one came at home at the hands of the New York Rangers, who felt safe enough that they started backup goal tender Jonathan Quick. While Quick is an NHL legend in his own right, at this point in his career he is essentially a middle of the road backup. The Oilers offense should have no problems scoring on him, even with McDavid out of the lineup. Clearly, Oilers fans agree as they booed the team after the final whistle.

"You can't win in this League If you're not bringing 60 minutes efforts. It's as simple as that. We have to reset, and can't feel sorry for ourselves. We can move on. We gotta be better, like to a man," he said. "That's as simple as that. That's the dialogue, everyone knows. You know, it's easy to point fingers and what not. Like, I mean we got everyone just looking in the mirror at this point. We have to be a whole lot f***ing better."

Oilers In Trouble

The Oilers are off to a 1-5-1 start, mustering just three points through their first 7 games. In the crowded pacific division, they are ahead of only the league-worst San Jose Sharks, who are 0-6-1. At this point, Oilers fans and hockey media alike should start to consider the possibility that the team may not be playoff caliber, let alone capable of taking a step forward and winning multiple rounds. Many analysts predicted the Oilers would win the division but that already seems out of reach as they are currently a whooping 13 points back of the Golden Knights, who lead the division with a perfect 7-0-0 record.
