Connor Bedard made an interesting comment about Auston Matthews before he matches up against him for the first time in his career Monday night.

Bedard Compliments Matthews

While Bedard has widely been considered the most hyped up prospect to enter the league since Connor McDavid, many fans may be forgetting how Auston Matthews came into the league just a year after McDavid.
Matthews, picked first overall in 2016, is set to face off against the most recent first overall pick Monday night as Matthews and the Leafs welcome Bedard's Blackhawks to Scotiabank arena for the first time in Bedard's career.
When asked how he felt about facing Matthews, Bedard spoke highly of the Leafs superstar.
"He's someone that I feel like pioneered a certain shot. He's got 6 [goals] in 2 [games], so he's doing something right. Ever since he came into the league, he's been someone I've loved to watch...so I'm excited to go against him."

Matthews And Bedard Both Off To Hot Starts

Auston Matthews has come into the year with a fire under his pants apparently as he has recorded back-to-back hat tricks in the Leafs first two games of the season.
The last time a player recorded hat tricks in back-to-back games was in 2017-18 when Alex Ovechkin did it.
Bedard has held his own though, recording a point in each of his first three games, including his first career goal which came in Boston.
Bedard and Matthews will likely dominate hockey headlines in the coming years as the two superstars look to lead their teams to Stanley Cup championships.
