The Boston Bruins are reportedly in talks with the Calgary Flames for this star defenseman, and they could just be the team to land him.

Bruins Showing Interest in Potential Trade for Hanifin

The Boston Bruins are showing immense interest in potentially shoring up their blue line by adding Flames star Noah Hanifin to their roster. The Flames have become this year's sellers, already trading away Nikita Zadorov to the Canucks. Now, it appears they could be close to sending off another of their star defensemen.

An NHL executive source to me yesterday on the NHL trade market for #Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin:

'I'd be shocked if Boston isn't at the front of the line there.'

The Bruins are primarily looking to add whatever they can on the back end to solidify their roster ahead of a potential cup run. Hanifin, a big, smooth-skating defenseman would significantly help the Bruins.

Flames and Hanifin Likely Need to Come to Agreement Prior to Any Trade

Hanifin is on the last year of his contract, and it has been reported that he would like to sign an extension before he is traded away. It has been previously reported that he and the Flames were close to getting a deal done, however, talks stalled after Hanifin walked away.

Hanifin was close on $7.5M AAV with Flames, may be dealt with extension in place

The Flames will need to get a deal done quickly if they want to continue shopping Hanifin, as the trade deadline will approach quicker than expected.
