Nail Yakupov, the Oilers' top selection from the 2012 draft, has recently inked a fresh contract.
Transition to the KHL
Yakupov initially experienced a challenging stint in the NHL, which ultimately led him to join the KHL. Fast forward to the present, he has sealed a one-year agreement.
In the upcoming season, he will showcase his skills with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, his local team from the KHL.
Yakupov's Hockey Journey
His junior years in the OHL were nothing short of stellar, which caught the attention of the Oilers and made him their draft pick. After contributing to Edmonton for four seasons, he explored opportunities with the Blues, and later, the Avalanche. Yakupov's NHL career spanned 350 games, during which he accumulated an impressive 136 points.
