An NHL veteran with 800 games under his belt has announced his retirement and joins NHL network.
Brian Boyle, a veteran center from Hingham, Massachusetts, has announced his retirement from professional ice hockey after a career spanning 14 seasons and 871 games played. Boyle was initially drafted 26th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 2003 and went on to play for eight different teams.
Over the course of his career, he scored 141 goals, provided 111 assists, and racked up 615 penalty minutes.
After being diagnosed with myelogenous leukemia in 2017, the 38-year-old athlete took a temporary break from the sport. He was later awarded the Bill Masterton Trophy following the 2017-2018 season.
Boyle's retirement from professional ice hockey doesn't mean he'll be away from the game for long, as he has already secured a position as a Studio Analyst with the NHL Network.
