Alexis Lafrenière's future is known
The start of Alexis Lafrenière's career has not been all it's cracked up to be. The young man has been slow to make his mark in the league, even though we know how talented he is.
Yet he still managed 39 points last season, including just four on the power play and little or no top-six playing time.
At just 21 years of age, anything is still possible for Laffy, and the coaching change in New York could well make a real difference.
At least, that's what Elliotte Friedman thinks. According to the insider, the Rangers' number 13 will remain in New York on a transitional contract, and the arrival of Peter Laviolette and Michael Peca will greatly assist his development.

"If you exchange him now, it will be with a low value. So it's better to try to fix the problem, and that's actually what prompted them to bet on [Peter] Laviolette and [Michael] Peca. They hope they'll play an important role here."
So, barring a very big surprise, the Quebecer will remain with the Rangers, and the team really hopes that the coaching change will play a beneficial role in the development of the young man and the organization's other youngsters.
