Alex Newhook and the Canadiens: major announcement imminent
Just prior to the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Kent Hughes acquired Alex Newhook from the Colorado Avalanche.
The young center is still without a contract, although he is officially an independent player with compensation as of July 1. Obviously, Kent Hughes did his homework and knew he could get along with his new player.
There's news on this front
According to the excellent Anthony Martineau, the signing of Newhook's contract is imminent.

Rumors have it that his contract will be very similar to Kirby Dach's, four years and between 3 and 4 million per year.
