If we go back a few years, Pierre-Luc Dubois was playing in Columbus and asked to be traded to Montreal. Surely, in these circumstances, the GM of a team that wants a player is not going to give the moon to acquire him.

Marc Bergevin was ready to make an offer sheet to acquire him, but the Blue Jackets' GM made several trades and freed up salary room to make sure he signed Dubois.
Pierre-Luc was very unhappy with the outcome and sulked on the ice, signaling his departure for Winnipeg. Find out all about it in this segment of the Sick Podcast.

Obviously, giving a 60-point player around $9 million a year is a risk in itself, and it could chill some teams trying to acquire him. Is this a sleight of hand to keep only the Habs in the running?
We'll find out in the coming weeks.
