Juraj Slafkovsky has had quite a year. Standing out at the World Championships, named 1st overall in the Canadiens draft and making the jump to the NHL, all at the age of 18. Even though his NHL debut wasn't exactly stellar, the young Slovak still managed 10 points in 39 games in the world's best league. However, he came up short at the finish line. In fact, it was Dalibor Dvorsky who won the title of Slovakia's Young Player of the Year, ahead of Slaf and Simon Nemec. Dvorsky didn't break any records in Sweden with 14 points in 38 games, but he dominated in the junior category. It was with great surprise that Tomas Prokop, a Slovak informant, published the news. Dalibor Dvorsky won the award for best Slovak U20 ice hockey player. Amazingly, he beat Juraj Slafkovsky and Simon Nemec. - Tomas Prokop This is a real slap in the face for Slafkovsky, who was perceived as the best U20 player in his country. Let's hope it gives him the motivation he needs to be better this year!
