Putting the facts into perspective, Chychrun is a 24 year old versatile defenseman who can provide some interesting offense. He has a solid 28 points (7 goals) in 36 games this season. He also has 18 goals in 56 games in 2021.

To me, the only problem with Chychrun is that he is not a right-handed defenseman. He could have been a perfect partner for Kaiden Guhle.

Xhekaj, on the other hand, just turned 22 and is playing his first professional season. He has 13 points (5 goals) in 51 games this season. Beyond his offensive production, the number 72 brings a much more physical presence than Chychrun, in addition to playing his role as a protector.

The Panthers first round pick should technically be a top-16 pick in the upcoming draft, and may even be a lottery pick depending on how the team finishes the season.
