A big trade is in the works between the Habs and Avalanche according to insider Pierre LeBrun

For a few weeks now, TSN's reputable tipster Pierre LeBrun has been mentioning that a deal is in the works between the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche.

During a recent segment of his famous TSN Insider Trading, LeBrun continued to fuel rumors of a potential matchup between these two teams for an upcoming trade.


The tipster adds that while there are other big names on the market in terms of a reliable center like Bo Horvat and Ryan O'Reilly, Monahan could make a lot more sense for the Avalanche for a number of reasons in his opinion.



Basically, the reporter reveals that since the acquisition price for CH #91 is likely to be quite a bit cheaper than Horvat, Colorado would have him at the top of their shopping list.

Add to this the fact that O'Reilly is still not guaranteed to leave St. Louis, even though he himself has admitted that he does not want to be traded. This could also increase Monahan's value on the trade market, as well as Colorado's interest in him.


Remember that LeBrun has strong sources and contacts within the National Hockey League, so he has probably already spoken with some officials, which contributes greatly to his near certainty that Monahan will become an Avalanche player soon.

The Denver-area team still has its first pick in the 2023 draft, and that's likely what Kent Hughes will demand in return for his 28-year-old veteran.
