Sidney Crosby forced into the locker room due to an injury after a collision with Evgeni Malkin

The Pittsburgh Penguins are at home against the Los Angeles Kings and the game is off to a disastrous start after Sidney Crosby has suffered an injury.

According to reports Crosby and Malkin collided in the slot as the two were going for an offensive chance.

Malkin took down Crosby and immediately Crosby left the ice in discomfort eventually heading to the locker room due to the injury.

As of now, it is not known exactly what kind of injury or the extent of how hurt Crosby is but regardless this is a huge loss for the Pittsburgh Penguins for any amount of time he is out of the lineup.

Despite the Penguins' lack of success as a team, Crosby is still playing at an elite level.

This season in 32 games Crosby has 30 points and has been driving the bus trying to help the Penguins somehow get back into the Stanley Cup Playoff race.

While Crosby has remained fairly healthy in recent years there was once a time where he struggled with injuries what felt like almost every season during the prime years of his career.

Hopefully, an update comes on Crosby soon and things are not as bad as they currently appear to be.

Reports have now confirmed that Crosby has returned to the bench for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second period after being evaluated.

It remains to be seen if Crosby finishes out the game or just remains on the bench either way being back with his teammates is overall a good sign for his long-tern health.
