Tonight’s playoff matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators has been surrounded in controversy after a hit to the head of Jake Sanderson.
The Ottawa Senators came into tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes needing a win to stay in the series.
If the Senators are going to compete defenseman Jake Sanderson would need to be a key contributor as the team’s number one defenseman.
Unfortunately, Sanderson has been knocked out of the game after a clear elbow to the head hit from Hurricanes forward Taylor Hall.
On the play, Hall was only given a two minute penalty and not ejected from the game causing outrage on social media towards Hall and the referees.

In the aftermath of the call, Ottawa Senators beat reporter took to social media to share his frustration that Hall was not given a five minute major and ejected.
After only being penalized for two minutes, speculation has started that Hall could face further punishment from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.
On replay, it seems incredibly clear there is direct head contact that not only should’ve led to an ejection but in most cases a suspension as well considering the injury.
Over the next 24 hours, all eyes will be on George Parros and Gary Bettman to see if a hearing is scheduled for Hall.
As the situation continues to develop and more information is provided on Sanderson’s injury and potential punishment for Hall we will pass that news along to you.
