ECHLer Jonathan Yantsis ejected after an incredibly dangerous hit

Recently in the ECHL, a terribly dangerous hit was laid out by forward Jonathan Yantsis of the Trois-Rivieres Lions. The hit led to a major injury to his opponent and the ejection of Jonathan Yantsis.

During this high stakes ECHL game Darick Louis-Jean of the Norfolk Admirals when to retrieve a puck on a dump in. In pursuit of Darick Louis-Jean was Jonathan Yantsis. When Jonathan Yantsis got to the corner he gave out a massive crosscheck to the back of Darick Louis-Jean. The hit sent the defenseman flying head first into the boards in horrifying fashion.

#Lions3R Jonathan Yantsis received a game misconduct following this hit against #Admirals Darick Louis-Jean.

Louis-Jean was stretchered off the ice, giving a thumbs up.




Luckily Darick Louis-Jean immediately gave a thumbs up to indicate he was awake, alert, and at least doing okay. Later there would be an update that Darick Louis-Jean was transported to a hospital evaluated overnight and released today.

"UPDATE | Darick Louis-Jean was transported to a local hospital last night. He was cleared by the doctors and released earlier this morning. Darick and the Admirals organization would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. 🙏" The Admirals said.


Thankfully a scary incident turned out to be alright. This is yet another reminder of how dangerous hockey can be especially when players try to bend the rules to get an advantage.
