Jarome Iginla is arguably the greatest player in Calgary Flames history, scoring over 500 goals and nearly leading the team to a Stanley Cup win 20 years ago.
Now, his son Tij Iginla is making a name for himself in professional hockey with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. Tij is considered one of the top prospects in the upcoming NHL Draft, projected to be a top-15 pick.
Jerome Iginla's son may soon be drafted by Calgary Flames
When asked about the possibility of joining the Flames, Tij expressed his excitement:
"It sounds like it would be a lot of fun and a cool opportunity. I don't know exactly how things will shake out, but I know they are there at pick nine. We'll see how it goes, but it would definitely be pretty cool."
Tij is aware that following in his father's footsteps is no small feat.
"Yeah, maybe a little bit, but he had a pretty strong career, so the draft only means so much," Tij said. "I'll have to start chipping away at those achievements if I want those bragging rights."
The Calgary Flames hold the No. 9 overall selection in this year's Draft, which will take place at the Sphere in Las Vegas on June 28.
